I've
been playing the guitar for twenty-three years now, and teaching
for fifteen. I've played in a variety of original and cover bands,
and written a number of songs of my own. I'm working on recording
these as instrumentals with my home studio, although "studio"
is probably too generous a term. It's more like a tv cart with a
bunch of recording equipment on it.
I'm available as a sub guitarist for original and cover bands. In
the past year or two, I’ve done last minute sub gigs for Dick
and Jane, Grumpy Jones, and Double Take – all top notch cover
bands that play out 3-5 times a month. If you'd like to hear some
examples of my playing, there are two very different mp3's for you
to listen to; they were recorded at home using my digital multi-track
recorder. The first is a Joe Satriani song called "The Mystical
Potato Head Groove Thing." I played all the instruments on
the recording, and did the drum programming, which is harder than
one might expect. The second is my rendition of "White Summer"
by Jimmy Page, which I played on acoustic. I did a shortened version
so visitors to the website wouldn't have to download an eight minute
song.

I teach at a
few places: Music Maker Studios in Brighton, MA, Nobles and Greenough
School in Dedham, MA, the Allston Boys and Girls Club (through a
program developed by Rawkstars.org), and at the Boston Center for
Adult Education. I've been teaching in the Boston area for nine
years now. Prior to that I taught at Guitar Attention Center in
Springfield, OH.
And last, but certainly not least, I’ve started a new band
called Sound Asylum that is taking the bars of Boston by storm,
or at least by heavy downpour. You can check us out at www.soundasylumband.com
for information about where we’re playing, audio and video
clips, and pictures of us staggering around stage on cube and heels.
You can also see me playing
my new toy, the Roland GR-30 guitar synth. I’m astounded that
I haven’t seen other guitar players use this, as it does many
sounds as good as most keyboards. The piano sounds, horn sections,
string sections, and 80’s synth patches sound just like a
keyboard synth.
